Group Classes

Weekly Yoga

It is necessary to sign up for classes via online booking or by calling 772-742-1990 if it is less than 24 hours before class.  After first class, Jen will give her cell phone number for future drop ins.

All of our classes are small, normally consisting of 4-6 people. This helps us to really focus on the needs of each participant, modifying as needed. During all classes we encourage students to follow their own body rather than to perfect a movement or form, and only suggest more ergonomic approaches in order to avoid injury. As trauma informed instructors, we will never touch a student (for adjustment) without permission, and rarely do anyway (unless it is a massage yoga combination class, in which case there is still an option to choose). Beginners are welcome in all classes.

Flow & Restorative Blend Yoga

Wednesdays 9-10am

Do the work with flow practice during the first half of class (see description), then begin to sink in, rest and restore during the second half with yin and restorative forms. During this portion, you will use props (which are provided)  to support deep stretches and full relaxation into static forms. IN addition to the benefits that flow yoga provides, this practice further promotes release of stress, muscle tension and pain, Breathwork and guided meditation is briefly woven in to further aid in relaxation, deepening a sense of physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.

Flow Yoga

Mondays & Fridays

9-10am

A.K.A. vinyasa yoga. During this beginner ashtanga class, you will be guided through the physical forms (asanas) of half of the primary series, in continuous movement while in sync with your breath. This practice provides low to medium impact exercise, improving cardiovascular and nervous system health as well as mental well-being. Improves metabolism and hormonal balance, aiding in stress reduction and weight management, lengthens and strengthens muscles, improves flexibility, reduces risk of injury, and moves lymph fluid improving immune function. These classes include breathwork (pranayama) and yoga nidra (a type of guided meditation).

Restorative &

Yin Yoga

Breathwork & Meditation is included in this class.

Unlike a traditional flow (vinyasa) class, restorative and yin classes generally do not involve continuous movement. Yin yoga is similar to restorative, in that both types involve remaining in each form for several minutes. This approach makes ample room for stillness and quiet, peaceful contemplation. The difference between the two is mostly in that restorative focuses on relaxing into resting poses, while yin's focus is on the deep stretch, allowing for full release into each stretch. Benefits of this practice include increase in joint mobility, calming of the nervous system, and improved flexibility.

Prenatal Yoga

One Friday per month 4-5pm

Yoga flow with occasional restorative forms designed for pregnancy and postpartum. Breathing, movements and positions specific to pregnancy & labor/birth. Some coping tools incorporated. Modifications included for all trimesters.

B.E. P.A.R.E.N.T.S. Childbirth Education monthly workshops for labor preparation (see below), prenatal massage, and doula services also available.

B.E. S.E.R.E.N.E. Relaxation, Sleep &Tools for Stress Management

Monthly Group Workshops AND Private Sessions

Our B.E. S.E.R.E.N.E. Program is taught both as a monthly group workshop and as private sessions.

BE SERENE stands for the topics and techniques covered throughout the program. The acronym is memorized for easier recall of coping techniques during daily life for help with sleep issues, stress tolerance & overall relaxation. Practical tools are taught for reduction of anxiety, depression, triggers and uncomfortable physical and emotional sensations.

Polyvagal toning exercises, breathwork, movement, guided meditation, sound, and more. Our sensory lounge and biofeedback is also utilized during private sessions (and occasionally during small groups).

In workshop form, this program is offered one Saturday per month for 1.5 hours from 9am-10:30am. (See dates below).

When taught privately the program is customized to focus in on specific aspects that are most beneficial to each client's needs. Pricing is available a la carte in 60 minute and 90 minute increments. Custom treatment plans (with discounted pricing may be created via consultation).  8 sessions suggested.

The monthly workshops are $30 each. I give a 25% discount to veterans, first responders, members of the Inner Truth Project and teachers. If this is you, you can sign up online, but do not pay until that day so I can apply the discount. The online system will ask for a credit card number to hold the space because of the 24 hour cancellation policy, but your card will not be charged (unless you are a no call show/less than 24 hours notice). Another option is to call the center to sign up (772-342-1990).

While each monthly class is beneficial on its own, I do suggest taking all 8 classes in the program. If this is something you are interested in let me know- I do offer discount package pricing for all 8 (but it is not available on the website at this time). If you miss a couple of classes and want to attend, the options are to wait until the next cycle and take those classes, or to perhaps schedule a private session. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Additional information:

If you are interested in a weekly group practice for the breathwork and meditation pieces introduced in this program, I am currently offering a Monday evening 5:45pm yin yoga class that covers these practices. Yin poses are very still and supported unlike flow classes, so there is not much movement. However, if you are not into the physical yoga part, you may simply abstain from the physical forms, and follow along with only the breathwork and meditation portions. See Group classes above.

Teachers, veterans, first responders and members of the Inner Truth Project receive 25% off regular pricing for these BE SERENE classes, and 10% off all other classes and services. Please let us know if this applies to you before making payment.
